Begum Akbar Jahan Abdullah was the first President of Jammu and Kashmir Red Cross Society from 1947 to 1951, and was wife of Sheikh Mohammed Abdullah. Known as the Lion of Kashmir, Sheikh Abdullah was the leader of Kashmir's largest political party, and one of the most important political figures in the modern history of Kashmir.
