Description

This comic book in Tagalog, one of many ephemeral items held in the Pacific Collection of Hamilton Library, illustrates the continuing interest in battles that raged throughout the Pacific during World War II. In the Battle of Midway, June 3-5, 1942, the U.S. Navy defeated Japanese forces and gained control of the Pacific, marking a turning point in the war. Midway atoll was a cable station in the early 20th century and, from 1935 to 1941, a refueling stop for Pan American Clipper flights between Honolulu and Wake, Guam, Manila and Macau.
