根津権現近くにある家の女主人・お桂、その妹分のお房、お房の家に下宿していた書生・小池良作の三角関係の物語。国会議員の三上博友がお房を妾にしたいと申し出たことをきっかけに、お房は良作と結ばれるがお桂は行方知れずとなる。口絵は仲介役の女と三上が銭湯帰りのお房の姿を出窓から盗み見ている場面。 /
Description of the associated story (see Is Part Of): A story of a love triangle involving Okei, the mistress of a house near Nezu Shrine; Ofusa, her sister-figure; and Ryōsaku Koike, a student lodging at Ofusa's house. Prompted by a proposal from Mikami Hirotomo, a Diet member who wants to take Ofusa as his mistress, Ofusa and Ryōsaku get together, while Okei's whereabouts become unknown.
Description of the kuchi-e: through a window, Mikami and a mediating woman secretly spying on Ofusa returning from the public bath.
