豊臣秀吉の正妻ねね（高台院、寧子）を題材とし、主君や夫への忠誠の価値を称えるフィクション。浅井長政亡き後、お市の方が秀吉（木下藤吉）へ嫁ぐ案が持ち上がり、その縁談をまとめるため自ら身を引こうとするねねの献身を描く。口絵は思い悩むねねの姿を描いたものと考えられる。 /
Description of the associated story (see Is Part Of): A historical fiction about Nene (Kōdai-in, Yasuko), Toyotomi Hideyoshi's legal wife, that praises the value of loyalty to one's master and husband. After the death of Asai Nagamasa, Nene selflessly attempts to leave Hideyoshi (Kinoshita Tōkichi) so he can marry Oichi-no-kata.
