日清戦争勃発を背景としたフィクション。海軍兵学校を卒業した水雷艇乗組員・柴崎禮吉は水雷艇で敵機を撃墜するも脳震盪を起こし入院、作品の最後で禮吉が病院で目を覚ますと叔父で退役海軍少尉の亀田猛と看護婦となった婚約者・芹村澤がいた。口絵はこのラストシーンを描く。 /
Description of the associated story (see Is Part Of): A historical fiction set at the start of the First Sino-Japanese War. After graduating the Naval Academy, Shibasaki Reikichi becomes a torpedo boat crew member, and in the war, shoots down an enemy vessel, after which he suffers a concussion and be hospitalized. When he wakes up in the hospital at the end, he finds his retired naval officer uncle, Kameda Takeshi, and his fiancée, Serimura Sawa, now a nurse.
