Roosevelt Visits Hawaii: Getting first-hand information on conditions in the Pacific, President Roosevelt held many conferences during his recent visit to Hawaii. At one of them, held aboard a Navy cruiser in Pearl Harbor, he met (left to right, front) Governor Ingram M. Stainback of Hawaii; General Robert C. Richardson, U.S. Army, Commanding General, Army Forces, Central Pacific; (rear) Vice Admiral Robert L. Ghormley, U.S. Navy, Commandant, 14th Naval District; and Rear Admiral William E. Furlong, U.S. Navy, Commandant, Pearl Harbor Navy Yard. At far left are General Douglas MacArthur and Admiral William D. Leahy.
