About the Collection
Photo albums and scrapbooks from the early 20th century from the Hawaiian Rare collection have been scanned in order to create digital surrogates to reduce the amount of handling and light exposure of the original photographs.
Digitization Procedures
Flatbed scanners such as Microtek and HP were used. Images were scanned in TIF format at 100% of original item size, 200 dpi, 16 million colors. Images were then resized and saved as grayscale (or color) JPG files.
