Title on back of print: One of the 80 RAMPs (Recovered American Military Personnel) selected to received the nation's homage on behalf of all men freed from Japanese prisons is Lieutenant Colonel Weldon K. Ruth, husband of Mrs. Lorene E. Ruth, O'Keene, Oklahoma. A member of the regular Army, he entered active duty in 1935, after graduating with the degree of MD from the University of Oklahoma in 1934. On Bataan he was a surgeon, highly qualified, Section Headquarters Philippine Division. After his capture by the Japanese he was sent to Camp O'Donnell prisoner of war camp until October 1942, where he was camp Medical Inspector and Chief of Medical Service before being transferred to Formosa in November 1944, where he served in a similar capacity at Chirakawa Camp. During the Bataan Campaign, Colonel Ruth's sector took the brunt of the medical work as well as the combat work. He devised evacuation of wounded by Carabao back or Carabao cart. Lieutenant Colonel Ruth is shown after he arrived at Hickam Field, Honolulu, Hawaii, en route to the United States.
