Braun with preliminaries for making a trans-pacific phone call to his mother in Ojai, California. Catholic chaplain Colonel Braun is en route home after having endured the horrors of almost four years of Japanese prisoner of war camps in the Philippines and Japan. He is one of a group of 60 RAMPs (Recovered American Military Personnel) being feted in Honolulu, Hawaii as guests of Hawaii and Lieutenant General Robert C. Richardson, commanding general Army Forces Middle Pacific.
