RECOGNITION: Because the students of 11 Oahu Catholic schools have purchased more than a half million dollars worth of war bonds and stamps through a schools' saving plan that has reached a weekly average of $2,500 in bonds and stamps, the treasury department on Saturday awarded a Distinguished Service citation to the Most Rev. James J.Sweeney, Bishop of Honolulu. Here he is shown receiving the certificate of recognition from Fred H. Kanne, territorial administrator of the war savings program. At the Bishop's left is the Very Rev. Robert Schoofs, chairman of the diocesan school board, and at Mr. Kanne's right is the Rev. Charles S. Geigner, superintendent of Diocesan schools, who also accepted the award on behalf of the students.
