Description

William Roscoe was a banker, lawyer, and amateur botanist. Many of the illustrations for his book were drawn from the exotic flora in the Liverpool Botanic Garden, which he founded. Monandrian Plants was the first book to use lithography exclusively to print the plates. This eliminated the laborious process of hand coloring the printed illustrations. Donald Angus, who grew up in Honolulu, was a passionate collector of botanical illustrations of exotic plants that grew in Hawai'i. This book is a gift of Donald Angus.
