マリー・コレリ『復讐』の翻案だが舞台設定はイタリア、登場人物の名もイタリア人名漢字表記。生きたまま埋葬された伯爵・波漂が白髪の老爺となって蘇り、彼を裏切った妻・那稲と姦夫・魏堂に復讐する物語。後編は復讐の実行を描く。口絵は波漂が那稲に自らが埋葬された棺の前で正体を明かす場面。

Description of the associated story (see Is Part Of): A Japanese adaptation of Marie Corelli's Vendetta, but the setting is Italy and the characters' names are Italian names written in Chinese characters. The story concerns Hahyō, a count who was buried alive, rising again as a white-haired old man to take revenge on his treacherous wife, Naina, and her lover, Gidō. Part 2 depicts the execution of this revenge.
Description of the kuchi-e: the scene where Hahyō reveals his true identity to Naina in front of the coffin in which he was buried.
