From back of print: Brigadier General Herbert D. Gibson, Commanding General, Replacement Training Command, presents meritorious service certificates to officers and men of the 1st Hawaii Rifles at ceremonies in Hilo, Hawaii. Marking release of the territory's organized defense volunteers from military control on July 4, 1945. Receiving his certificate from General Gibson is Sergeant Eugenio Madriada. From right to left: Private First Class Segundo Morales, Private First Class Placido Quaresma, Sergeant Cecilio Yapit, Sergeant Chun Chin Tong, Sergeant Bernando Tampon, Staff Sergeant Stevens and Staff Sergeant Manuel Rodriguez. Closest to the camera is First Sergeant George Lopez. In the rear, left to right: Captain H.R. Warner, Adjutant, and First Lieutenant J.B. Andrews.
