Fig. 29 . Trichomes. Surface views of the epidermis from the nodal region of the medial portion of the stem of a 6-months-old plant to show the trichomes which occur at the junction of the stem and adaxial side of the leaf. A single or double (A) row of these trichomes are to be found in the locality. Notice the shape of these trichome heads as compared to those occurring on the blade proper of the leaf (see Figs. 58, 60, 61, 62 for comparison). X340.
