Description
From the early years of their marriage, the Charlots kept a guest book. Many artists, writers, and actors recorded their visits in spontaneous drawings and amusing notes. Max Ernst and his wife, artist Dorothea Tanning, visited Hawai'i in the summer of 1952 to lecture in the Department of Art at the university. Their guest book self-portraits are bright examples of their typical surrealist styles.
