Description

Petition to the GOVERNOR AND STATE LEGISLATURE, State of Hawaii, MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL, City and County of Honolulu WE UNDERSIGNED STATE AND COUNTY WORKERS oppose further urban growth on Oahu which is enabled by public projects such
as H-3 because it is causing: *OVERWORK OF PUBLIC EMPLOYEES. Extra work is piled on public service employees as the city grows, instead of full staffing. Many departments are seriously understaffed including refuse collectors, custodians, highway maintenance, hospitals, clerical and others. * CONGESTION-Our roads, markets, beaches and public places are overcrowded. * LOSS OF OPEN SPACE and access to beaches, hunting and fishing areas. * RISING LAND PRICES, leases, rents, taxes and the cost of
housing. UNTIL THESE PROBLEMS ARE SOLVED, WE OPPOSE SPENDING PUBLIC MONEY FOR H-3, AND PUBLIC PROJECTS THAT ENCOURAGE FURTHER GROWTH. LET'S TAKE CARE OF WHAT WE HAVE FIRST!
