Description
At the beginning of the 20th century Hawai'i sugar plantation owners began recruiting Russian workers. Perhaps as many as 2,000 Russians and Ukrainians came to Hawai'i. The album contains the passport applications of 165 persons from Hawai'i who wished to return to Russia following the Revolution of 1917. Each person was required to submit a photograph and details of birth, occupation in Russia, the name of the ship and the year of arrival in Hawai'i, type of work done in Hawai'i, number of children, and religion. The album is a uniquely valuable resource for genealogical research and is available on the web.
