井字形に橋の交わる大阪のある土地に奉公にきたお俊と浄瑠璃の名手・源七は恋仲になるが、周囲の妨害によりお俊は川へ身投げし源七もその後を追う悲恋の物語。口絵は兄から届いた二人の結婚を認める手紙をお俊が源七へひそかに見せる場面。 /
Description of the associated story (see Is Part Of): A tragic romance between Oshun, a servant, and Genshichi, a skilled Jōruri singer, set in a region aroung a hash-shaped bridges in Ōsaka. Their love is obstructed by those around them, leading Oshun to throw herself into the river, with Genshichi following her in death.
Description of the kuchi-e: Oshun secretly showing Genshichi a letter from her brother that approves their marriage.
